Membership Information

Just as a heads up to our computerized members – if in fact you haven’t noticed these before - here are a few “links” that are worth your time to check out.

EAA’s online “Hints for Homebuilders”

EAA has a very informative website that has some 100 Hints for Homebuilder videos covering all sorts of tips to help you build and maintain your airplane.  You can watch the videos at www.EAA.org/video/homebuilders.html.

Advisory Circular for Vintage Aircraft

Some of our Piets are truly vintage aircraft, but the new FAA Advisory Circular 23-27 has some information that can be of interest to all of us.  You can see the Advisory Circular at http://rgl.faa.gov/   Just click on the Advisory Circulars link on the right side of the page.  On the next page, type in 23-27 in the search window and a link to the AC will appear.  Of course, you can print it out if you wish, and have lots of ink and paper if you do.

A Source for Aircraft-Grade Sitka Spruce

Wicks Aircraft www.WicksAircraft.com or 800-221-9425 (Highland, Illinois near St. Louis) has received a shipment of Sitka spruce.  They have spars up to 1.5 inches thick by 9 inches wide with lengths up to 25 feet. Wicks was at one time a pipe organ supply company, and they really know lumber grading.
